Trouble in Burma

Last weekend a big storm hit Burma and left a lot of people homeless and there is a fear that a lot of people are dead and it could go higher if the people don't get help fast. The country of Burma is ruled by a military government that is making it hard for the countries that want to help to get the help needed to the people in Burma. The military government in Burma is some what known to rule with a iron hand. They do not like out side people coming in to the country and they control what news people see and block the internet if they have to. But now something has happened and people need help. The Burmese military government should let other countries send people in to help no matter if it is foreign military aid or other aid. People in Burma need help and other countries want to get help in before it is too late.

Atacked by a group

In London last week there was a woman who got attacked by a group of girls. The group of girls whose ages range between 12 and 20 attacked the woman for no reason and beat her up real bad. At one point the son of the woman came out to try to stop the girls from attacking his mom and the group of girls started to go after him and wanted to beat him up. Now all the girls are facing a lot of trouble from the police. The 20 year old can be charged as adult so she might have to face some jail time and the other girls might get off light but I hope not. With this case it is bad that a woman who did not do anything to this group of girls got attacked. It just shows that in a crime like this young people should have to face jail time or have to go on parole so if they do any crime again they can face more jail time. With the youth criminal justice act with some crimes the young person gets off too light.

Girl free from basement after 24 years

In the news this past week was a report about this case in Austria were a girl who was missing for 24 years was found living in a locked basement cell. In 1984 the girl was drugged by her father and he put her in a cell he built in the basement of the home and forced the girl to live down there day and night. What makes this case real bad is the father forced her to have sex with him and the girl ended up having 7 kids with her own father. With some of the kids the father let them live up stairs and him and his wife just told people that their mother could not care for them so let her mom and dad look after them. With this case it is sad that The girl has not seen the light of day in 24 years because of her own father's sick and twisted plan. Too bad the father can't be locked up in a cell for 24 years with out seeing the light of day because then the girl would get some justice.

Zimbabwe election

Last Saturday Zimbabwe had its first election in 28 years and since then Zimbabwe and the world has been waiting to see what will happen next. There has been a lot of talk about if president Mugabe will do something to try to stay in power and there has been other news saying that he would step down. There has also been talk about the opposition may have lost the election. There has been a lot of talk and news reports going around with this election but I hope the election was done fair and the person who wins does so the fair way with no mean tactics.

Budget Ontario vs federal government

With the news on the Ontario budget this past week there has been a lot of talk about the Federal government wanting Ontario to give tax breaks to big business but Ontario does not want to do that. The current Ontario government has always wanted to put tax money where people need it and not make the small person pay the big tax all that much. Some people do think a big business that makes over $100,000,000 a year can pay more in taxes but the Federal government thinks that a business should pay less taxes. I think that the person who has to work 2 or 3 jobs just to feed his or her family should not have to pay a high tax that the big business should be paying because that I do not think is right. If a business makes $100,000,000 or more they can afford more of a big tax so they should and that might be what the Ontario government is trying to do.

Political and corporate imppropriety

In political and corporate governance there are some times cases where people step over the line. Some times a person just wants to step over the line just once, but then there are other times where they get in to deep where they can't stop what they are doing.

When you are a big business or a person within the government you have the responsibility to people you do business with and people you represent. If someone crosses the line, that makes people lose trust in the system. If you are a business that is built on trust then people will lose faith in you.

Kosovo and Serbia and Canada

If you have been keeping up to date with the news lately you might have found out what is going on with Kosovo and Serbia. With Kosovo and Serbia now being two states that have made some people not too happy, and Canada has yet to weigh in on the matter because we are almost in the same kind of political situation.

Quebec like Serbia has wanted to be an independent State for a long time. With all most of Canada there has to be English and French. With Quebec they only say that everything has to be French. With Canada if we want to help with the UN and NATO when it comes to Kosovo and Serbia we need to do it in a way that is OK with everyone in this country because we can not go one way or the other when Canada itself is dealing with the same situation.

Man who killed his own daughter gets day parole

Do you all remember that case about that father who killed his daughter because she had a disabilitie well he is back in the news again because he is getting day parole. On October 21 1993 Robert Latimer killed his daughter because she had a disabilitie a severe form cerebral palsy he took his 12 year old daughter out to his truck put her in the cab and ran a hose from the exhaust pipe in to the cab of the truck. The one thing about this case that bugs me is everyone has the right to live even if you have a disabilitie no one should be able to say other wise because a person with a disabilitie is a person and if you say to someone that it is ok to do something to a person with a disabilitie like what happened in this case then people would think it is ok to do so and that is wrong.
